50 years after humanity’s first grasp of an extraterrestrial body, and a relatively prolonged lack of interest in our next-door neighbor, an international armada of spacecraft funded through space agencies and commercial partners plans to return back to the Moon within the next few years. In light of the recent lunar missions we summarize some of the latest science results, show how space science now allows one to perform morphological analysis on the lunar surface, and discuss the scientific case for returning to the Moon. The science case for returning to the Moon.

Abstract
50 years after humanity’s first grasp of an extraterrestrial body, and a relatively prolonged lack of interest in our next-door neighbor, an international armada of spacecraft funded through space agencies and commercial partners plans to return back to the Moon within the next few years. In light of the recent lunar missions we summarize some of the latest science results, show how space science now allows one to perform morphological analysis on the lunar surface, and discuss the scientific case for returning to the Moon.
The science case for returning to the Moon.
